Simplicity Coronet

Do not be fooled by the appearance of the Simplicity Coronet. Although it may look small, and actually is rather small compared to most, it does a big job.

Do not be fooled by the appearance of the Simplicity Coronet. Although it may look small, and actually is rather small compared to most, it does a big job. Not only does it do it, but it does it well. The features are endless on such a lower mid range model from Simplicity. Unlike some other brands, simplicity does not let the quality show in the price.

When speaking about engines, the choice is between a Briggs and Stratton Engine coming in at 13.5hp simplicity coronet lawn tractorand a Kohler Engine that gets 16hp. Both engines are excellent and are one cylinder. It just depends on how much hp you really need to get your tasks done. The other features such as key start, battery size, and fuel tank size are identical.

A main difference that sets the Coronet model apart from the higher ticket models is the hand controlled speed. To some, this might even be an advantage because they prefer it over a foot controlled pedal. The forward speed of this Simplicity model will get you up to 5 miles per hour while the reverse speed falls a little over 2 miles per hour.

The mower deck size on the Briggs and Stratton engine is 30 inch while the Kohler engine boasts 34. The difference in size is due to the blades underneath. The Kohler engine has 2 blades where there is only a single blade in the Briggs and Stratton. All told, this allows the Kohler engine model to weigh in at roughly 446 which is about 31 lbs heavier than the Briggs and Stratton.

Other specifications on the Simplicity tractor include 13 inch front wheels and 16 inch rear wheels. It also has the Ground Hugger Traction feature that allows the lawn tractor to stay close to the ground while being cautious of the ups and downs of the terrain. The height adjustment is handy because you can attain a wide range of cut heights the way it is designed to give you infinite choices.

As with most of the Simplicity tractor mowers that are designed with more than one purpose, the Coronet is designed with the Quick Hitch feature that allows the deck to come completely off with a simple turn and pull. This method allows for easier cleaning and blade sharpening. If you choose the Kohler engine model, you will find that the gauge wheels you saw on the Briggs and Stratton design are replaced by rollers that span the width of the deck. This allows for a finer and more delicate cut.

To sum it up, they both come with a 2 year warranty that is limited if you are choosing to use it for residential use. If the mower is used for commercial use, it has a limited 90 day warranty. The warranties differ due to the fact that a commercial mowers is used many more times that a residential mower throughout the time you own and use the lawn tractor. The Simplicity Coronet is simply a great choice all around.
